From the starting point in Birkenfeld the path leads steeply uphill to the Birkenfeld Castle. Follow along a leisurely ridgeway into the Nahe valley to Kronweiler. With impressive rock faces to the right and left the banks of the river Nahe are a perfect place to take a short break. We continue on between fields and forests via Oberbrombach to Leisel. The Roman tomb "Kipp", the Götterallee and the church Heiligenbösch are located directly along the route. From the sparkling water village of Schwollen we ascend to Hattgenstein - the observation tower opens up a wonderful, vast view of the countryside. A detour to the Sauerbrunnen and Petersquelle in Oberhambach is certainly worthwhile, before the trip leads back down to Birkenfeld via Gollenberg and Ellenberg.
